Dryburgh Abbey

The cloister buildings of this Border Abbey on the River Tweed are remarkably complete, allowing visitors a glimpse into medieval monastic life. Little survives of the abbey church apart from the north transept, but fine examples of ecclesiastical architecture and masonry remain, and the chapter house retains plaster and paintwork dating back to the abbey’s foundation.
