Doune Castle

Built for the Regent Albany, Doune Castle is a magnificent 14th-century courtyard castle. Its most striking feature is the keep-gatehouse, which includes the splendid Duke’s Hall with its double fireplace. It was restored in the 19th century, when a musicians’ gallery and carved oak screen were added. Scenes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail were filmed here. The audio tour features the voice of Terry Jones, who co-directed the film. Discover the nature trail in the grounds.
